The root of all evil

After chopping down one tree it was time to take on the big one.

This has been dead for several years and the roots have started to rot, which should make things easier.

However, we’ve still got remove some flagstones and either buttress or remove the “pergola” which is likely to come crashing down. Oherwise the two supports are already uneven, causing the main beams to twist and split, making it only a matter of time before it the inevitable happens.

Not that I’d ever be able to do this myself but this attempt at a foundation is a disaster waiting to happen. And one of the supports has already had to be replaced. But we left it up over winter as it did provide some shelter from the rain when working outside.
