The House
The house on Sengelsweg* was built by Astrid’s grandad in 1927. As you can see, at the time Angermund was extremely rural and it has stayed quite rural since. In the 1970s Angermund, as part of an administrative reform, became part of Düsseldorf, but kept its dialing code of 0203, the same as Duisburg, which in many respects is closer. And, German bureaucracy being what it is, I was not allowed to keep my Düsseldorf telephone number when I moved here. Still, we’ve managed to save the Astrid’s mum’s telephone number which is much easier to remember than the 8 digit monster I got assigned.
But, very much like Tristram Shandy, I digress. This blog is going to be about this house and what need to do before we move in.
Astrid’s mum, Christel died last year and as the dust of the inheritance settles, the house on Waldlehne, built by Astrid’s dad in 1972, has been sold and we will be moving to Sengelsweg. There are just a couple of things to do before we can do that!
Since the house was built it’s always been in the family, though we’re not sure if it has been continally occupied by the family. There is something nice about it staying in the family.
