Stopgap Measures

The most important thing to keep a house warm is to prevent draughts. Well, we’ve got lots of them! Here at the back of the house, the door frame had to be lifted for the floor. We did try and fill the gap with foam, but as you can see, we weren’t entirely successful!

This door is getting replaced but in the meantime a draught excluder should help a bit. Especially during this cold snap.

Upstairs, my office door feel victim to several decades of floor growth!

In the bedroom, the gap beneath the door is a bit smaller but still noticeable.

Of course, the big drawback with these is that they only make a difference when you can push them against the door, which generally means when you’re in the room.

Still, every little helps.
