One man and his crowbar

No, it’s not a new album by Half Man Half Biscuit but the fruits of my own labours today, removing the rest of the boards in the bedroom.

The boards were mostly held down by these barbed tacks. They generally came up easily with a bit of a twist or with a gentle lean from a claw hammer. But there were a load of the buggers and they’re not easy to see, though you can generally feel them well enough!

But there were also some pretty meaty 10 cm screws. Fortunately, they mostly came up without any difficulty.

Don’t lose your head

But there’s always one. And the screwhead broke almost immediately. 🤬 We’ll can’t just cut it off because that will still leave enough to ruin any sander. I think we’ll have to try and drill it. Maybe our intrepid midnight decorators will have some ideas.

Anyway, this is the result.

I still had to go down into the garden and pick up all 20 sqm I’d send down and dump it into the skip. But managed to do this just as the rain came on. At least there it can quietly disintegrate without making an unholy mess of the garden.
