New Life

Few things in the house have seen as much use and change as the stairs. The original beech was quickly covered in oxblood paint, presumably to protect from the wear and tear. And then, at some point, a layer of awful grey was added to it. Today they started to sand it back to the original wood. It still needs repairing and sealing, particularly above the cellar, but what a difference it already makes.
We hope that most of the upstairs has this kind of wooden flooring, though I just saw some boards in the bedroom that might have replaced it, in which case I will be in trouble!
