Mission accomplished!
Well, if you know the background.
This is the old toilet that we reconnected on a temporary basis once the downstairs bathroom was demolished. Then disconnected in order to do it up, then threw it in the skip, twice, and rescued, twice, because we weren’t sure whether we would need it… In the meantime, well, we’ve got a big garden!
This Saturday everything that could be was supposed to be installed. But this morning, while I was out getting breakfast and checking the house, Mrs Sauer called Astrid to say that they couldn’t make Saturday but would come in Tuesday.
This is a problem, because we’re hoping to move enough stuff to house on Saturday that we can sleep there, so that in Monday we can come to the Waldlehne at the same time as the removal men. And it would be nice to have a toilet for this. I mean, a bucket would do, but a toilet is better.
But it’s also a soluble problem, and any kind of temporary solution that allows us to move in over the weekend, of preferable to some kind of quantum entanglement between the houses! And I’d asked Ivan at the start of the week to connect it.
He wasn’t at the house this morning as he was out buying silicone, which we’d have got yesterday if we’d known, but he said no problem. However, needed to square this with Mr Sauer, who’d obviously like to connect everything himself. Quick call with his wife to explain what we’re planning to do.
She then called back ten minutes later to say that they’d managed to rearrange some appointments and that Mr Peters would be over at some point in the afternoon to do as much as possible.
In the meantime, it was time for the Clueless Wonders to go the DIY store to pick up the silicone that Ivan couldn’t find in the right colour (Jura beige) this morning, and a longer pipe for the toilet. I managed to find one that seemed to have the right size and also checked to see what kind of taps they have in case we need one.
But tomorrow is another day…
