Maybe we’re jinxed?
I went to the house this morning to talk to the plumbers and see how things are getting on. It’s so important to do this, even you just say hi and do lucky that I live so close to house.
Of course, the most important thing today was to get the water back on so that they could test the new pipes and that the other workmen could get on with the plastering. But the people from the utility company hadn’t turned up yet. So we had to send the labourers away and just hope that we’d have water by the end of the day.
About an hour later I got a call from the plumber telling me that the utility company had turned up. Just at the wrong house. They hadn’t bothered to check and had been busy digging up someone else’s garden for a couple of ideas until they got told to stop because they were at the wrong house. And, of course, because they also had other jobs planned for the day it was uncertain as to whether they’d be able to start today.
Frustrating but you have to be prepared for this kind of thing. Expect the unexpected and the rest!
