Crossing the cultural divide

It’s been pointed out to me that not everyone will get the cultural references, especially of the name of the blog. This should be Watery Fowls, but that was already taken, anyway, this comes from a little gimmick from the title sequence of the British sitcom, Fawlty Towers, about a hotel in Torquay run by Basil Fawlty, played by John Cleese, and his wife Sybil, played by Prunella Scales. A bit like the Loriot husband and wife sketches, only more so. And more aggressive. A veritable treasure trove of bon mots and insults, with the hotel sign as a laconic little joke at the start of each episode. Brilliantly written in the 1970s, it’s only slightly dated and well worth watching.
