When the original cladding was removed from the chimney stack we thought we might strip it down and go for the full loft feeling. But with time pressing we’ve reconsidered and are having it replastered. It’s still damp and we’re now well in autumn so it is quite imposing. But I’m sure it’ll be less menacing once it’s been painted.

The pipework was probably original and, therefore, long overdue for a replacement.

The utility company, however, doesn’t seem satisfied with a simple change of the water pipe and are planning to dig up the front garden on Monday. Should at least provide some good footage for our little friends in Münster!
