Steel is harder than aluminium

It took me a while to set the drill up correctly but then rivets didn’t stand a chance and I was able to remove the first bit of the frame, which would then give more leverage over the rest.

The boards at the top of the frame were tacked onto wooden blocks, which in turn were bolted into the ceiling with 15 cm bolts. Nothing else to be done but work the boards loose with a screwdriver and pliers on one side. Then our trusty friend the lump hammer could deal with the other side and the bolts could be removed with less damage to the plasterwork than the other day.

Okay, I did end up twisting the final screws for the frame out of the woodwork, but that’s what leverage is about.

I even managed to clean up after myself.
