Yesterday, after a remembrance service for Astrid’s mum, where, of course, the priest forgot to mention her name. Again. Take the money and run has always been the church’s (all of them) motto. We had first the family and then some friends round, who were all keen to see the building site. And so off we duly trundled.
Everyone was impressed with the skylights and that work has started in earnest on the house. But, as we have been having trouble getting hold of tradesmen, there were prompt offers to help dismantle the kitchen so that work on the electrics could proceed.
We arranged to meet this evening and get started. And, boy, did we. Not only was the kitchen removed, but we also got rid of most of the skirting tiles downstairs, and the tiles in the kitchen itself. Power tools galore!
But we’ve also got rid of the carpet in what will be my study. If only the one in the attic was as easy to do!

I’m not sure how much help I really was so I ended up carrying a lot of rubble to the skip.
André decided this wasn’t fast enough so devised a ramp.

You see these things on YouTube videos all the time, fortunately no mishaps here!

The finished product. A huge improvement, I think you’ll agree!
Thanks very much to Petra, André and Bine
