A rose by any other name

We were given some lovely roses for our wedding and got round to planting them at the weekend. A bit late in the year but, now that it’s getting hotter and drier, the only thing to do.

If you look carefully you’ll see that they have pipes. The idea is to be able to get water down to the roots. And it sort of works. Probably need to get some large funnels for best results but with the top layers of soil starting to dry out, it’s important they put down deep roots, like the rose we brought with us from the Waldlehne. It took a while to settle in but is now in full bloom!
